Universal Completes Purchase of D-Stake Mill, Inc. and Manufacturing Country in Oregon

Continues the Expansion of Universal's Capacity and Reach in the

Industrial Market

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 2008--Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI) today announced that one of its subsidiaries has purchased certain assets of D-Stake Mill, Inc., in McMinnville, OR and Manufacturing Country, in Independence, OR. The acquisition expands Universal's reach and capacity in the growing industrial products market.

D-Stake and Manufacturing Country manufacture kiln stickers, lath, stakes, decking, and pallets and pallet components for a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail and agriculture. In 2007, sales to their customer base, which is concentrated in California, Washington, and Oregon, totaled approximately $18.5 million. Universal Forest Products Western Division finalized the purchase on June 9, 2008.
